On February 21, 2016 Abell Auction Co. of Los Angeles will be holding its Fine Art, Antique, & 20th century Design auction of 2016. In its 100th year of business, Abell is honored to be offering property from the Estate of Sam Simon, benefiting the Sam Simon Charitable Giving Foundation. In addition to the February 21, 2016, Abell will be offering other property from the Sam Simon estate during its weekly auctions starting February 25, 2016. Highlights from the Simon estate include a Dale Chihuly blown glass chandelier, measuring 14'6" high and 10' diameter (est. $100,000-150,000.00); a Chihuly wall installation ($40,000-60,000.00); a full-size casting of Rodin's Thinker ($80,000-100,000.00); Abell is honored to offer property from the estate of Sam Simon, the Emmy Award-winning co-creator of the Simpsons, as well as a television writer, philanthropist, and animal-rights activist. All property sold will benefit the Sam Simon Charitable Giving Foundation; these items include a Dale Chihuly glass chandelier ($100,000-150,000.00) and wall installation ($40,000-60,000.00); a Valsuani Foundry full-size bronze casting of Rodin's The Thinker ($80,000-100,000.00); paintings & drawings by Earl Moran, Alberto Vargas, Leroy Neiman, etc.; photographs by Ansel Adams, Cecil Beaton, David LaChapelle, Jill Greenberg, etc.; a collection of vintage comic books; boxing memorabilia; as well as personal effects belonging to Sam Simon and much more. Abell is also honored to offer property from the Estate of Academy Award winning actor David Niven, including an important Picasso Madoura Bull pitcher ($50,000-70,000.00) and two Greco-Roman sculptures. Fine Art include an Andy Warhol Panda silkscreen ($30,000-40,000.00); a large Picasso Madoura tile ($25,000-35,000.00); a Picasso tapestry; a Salvador Dali sculpture and large pencil drawing; Alexander Archipenko bronze sculpture; and much more.
