Magnificent Chinese and Indian Art

The sale pays tribute to the magnificent and rich art traditions of China and the Indian subcontinent. Among the selection of fine Chinese porcelain is an impressive Famille Rose Goldfish Bowl dating to the mid 18th century and a coral-red reserve-decorated ?Bamboo? bowl from an old Dutch family collection, Yongzheng mark and possibly of the period. The journey continues with important statues and Tibetan gilt bronzes and goes as far as 20th century modern Chinese paintings. The scroll painting of Bactrian Camels is a characteristic work by the famed and highly esteemed painter WU Zuoren (1908-1997). It was acquired by an East-German diplomat and has been in the family ever since. The section of Indian Art has a similar broad perspective, celebrating various genres and eras. Awe-inspiring early stone statues from the Pala Dynasty are lined up with miniature paintings and enticing works of art from the Mughal Period.
