The Bruges Legacy: Works of Art

In the second part of the exciting auction series you are, among other things, invited to discover medieval Flanders in the region of Bruges. You can expect, for example, religious art from the early to late Middle Ages, including a finely carved late Gothic wooden sculpture of the Virgin Mary from the early 16th century. The far-reaching trade relations of Bruges at that time is represented by the 15th century group of Anna Selbdritt from Spain. Part of an authentic medieval castle inventory are moreover rustic furniture and carved chests as well as elaborately knitted tapestries. The highlight here is the monumental tapestry from the workshop of John II Raes from about 1600-20. The exquisite range of decorative artworks is eventually rounded off by an extensive collection of selected garden sculpture with putti, fountains and park vases.
