Doyle at Home

The March 1 Doyle at Home auction features a wide selection of American, English and Continental furnishings and art with moderate pre-sale estimates. A special section of the sale will be devoted to 20th Century Art and Design. Among the Modern and Contemporary furniture are examples by such prominent designers as Richard Neutra, George Nakashima, Isamu Noguchi, Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, Edward Wormley, Alvar Aalto, Warren McArthur, Tommi Parzinger, Hans Wegner, Paul McCobb, George Nelson, Verner Panton, and others. Decorations include a 1969 floor lamp by Nicola designed as a pair of red lips, a metal sculpture by Hagenauer of a head supported by hands, and a pair of lacquered metal sconces by Charlotte Perriand, circa 1955. The fine art section of the sale includes paintings, drawings and sculpture by a number of prominent artists of the 20th century. Featured will be a selection of works sold for the benefit of the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Artists represented include Mario DeNoto, Bertha Hellebranth, John Grillo, Zlatko Prica, Sante Graziani, Murray Kupferman, and John Hartell. Highlights from other owners include a mountain landscape pastel on paper by Wolf Kahn, a Still Life with Guitar by Tosca Olinsky, and an oil on canvas depicting the Artificial Lake, Woodstock, New York by Arnold Blanch. Also featured are works by Elie Nadelman, William Zorach, Jack Levine, Gabriel Godard, Gaetano Pompa, Joseph Pennell, John Heliker, LeRoy Neiman, Rafael Soyer, Chaim Gross, Ludwig Bemelmans, Yan Macs, and Moses Soyer.
