Two-Day Fine Estate Auction

Our March auction will include furniture represented by virtually every major style and country, including the Louis XV, XVI, Renaissance Revival, Empire, and Provincial styles of France; the Chippendale, Sheraton, Victorian, Edwardian and George III styles of England and fine American pieces, including Victorian rococo revival - an exceptionally well-carved mahogany shaped front mirrored china buffet, circa 1850-1860 and a finely carved mirrored two-part shaped front china cabinet, circa 1850-1860; Renaissance Revival, including a finely carved oak mirrored back hall seat, circa 1870-1880; Biedermeier, including a four-drawer/two-door mirrored dresser and a six-drawer marble top mirrored dresser; a vintage oak three-door ice box by Raney Mfg. Co. and a western style horn and cowhide upholstered armchair. A traditional style circa 1962 Berdux Munchen D.R.G.M. grand piano will also be offered. Of very special note is a rare unique finely carved and painted pine Confederate folk art table, circa 1866-1875, inscribed “Flags of the Lost Cause”; as well as an exceptional five-piece carved walnut half-tester bedroom suite in the Renaissance Revival Style, circa 1850-1860. This comprehensive sale will showcase an excellent array of 18th, 19th and 20th century paintings, watercolors, drawings, lithographs and other fine art, including works by A.H. (Alfred Henry) Maurer, Charles Wheldon Rain, Pierre Eugene Montezin, John Biggers, Colin Campbell Cooper, John Betham Dinsdale, Manuel Valencia, an 18th/19th century oil after Anthony van Dyck, an early 20th century American school painting reputed to be a portrait of former a Texas Governor and many other fine works. Included will be fine examples of porcelain, including a monumental pair of finely decorated bronze mounted Sevres porcelain vases, circa 1880, a late 19th century pair of gilt bronze mounted Sevres porcelain capped urns, a late 19th century French bronze dore’ and Sevres porcelain figural mantel clock; also a 20th century bronze dore’ mounted malachite centerpiece, a George III tortoise shell and ivory tea caddy, a 19th/20th century Dutch marquetry inlaid bombe’ long case clock, a fine quality mounted and framed needlepoint medieval scene and an Artist Carving Co. of Boston hand-carved and decorated eagle figured heraldic wood plaque, circa 1935-1965. Additionally featured is superb group of bronzes, marble sculpture, sets of china, crystal, an extensive group of antique and modern sterling silver and silverplate, mirrors, candelabra, lamps and other objects of art. Finally, a collection of estate and designer jewelry and a wonderful selection of estate and new Oriental rugs and tapestries will also be included.
