Carpets. Fiber Art

This auction presents marvelous antique and old rugs with excellent provenances. The rich selection of bridges, runners and rugs were knotted according to traditional manual work and are made of a mix of high-quality new and cork wool. The rugs originate from regions of Persia, the Caucasuses and China. A number of oversized rugs are also included in the selection. The high art of fine knotting is demonstrated with a finely patterned Persian baluch kilim, partly in Sumakh technique from the 20th century. A beautiful example of the noble color compositions of Chinese rugs is a large rug with a decorative floral patter, and a further very interesting piece is an Ushak Prayer Kilim from West Anatolia.
