Decorative Arts & Design

The auction focuses on the variety of European and especially French design from the fin de siècle to the 1970s. An absolute highlight is a golden cigarette case from the enamel artist Jean Goulden from 1926. Other fine art works, such as the early art deco bronze of a Russian Dancer by Paul Philippe, are also well-represented. In addition, this auction offers selected pieces of furniture, such as an art nouveau sideboard designed by the architect and interior designer Leon Benouville from 1904, a desk with curved narrow sides by André Groult dating back to 1915, and a pair of armchairs in the typical purist shapes of André Sornays from the time around 1930. A pair of illuminated obelisks by Pierre Giraudon and a 'Lume Cometa' floor lamp from the designer Ettore Sottsass offer interesting contrasts for all lovers of interior design.
