Wright presents The Workshop: Carl Auböck Designs 1930-1980, an auction dedicated to the high quality and expert craftsmanship of multiple generations of Carl Auböcks. Founded in the 19th century, the workshop's prolific output includes more than 6000 original designs. For this unparalleled sale, curator Patrick Parrish has pulled together a wide and important array of objects, lighting and furniture designs. Using mixed and varied materials - from brass, nickel and stainless steel to hand-stitched leather and horn - the Auböcks create figurative and geometric functional and decorative objects that are as sophisticated as they are playful, illustrating a mastery of material and form that sets the workshop apart. Highlights from the auction include a rare drink table, a group of three log tables, the first to be imported to the United States, a custom coatrack and a rare letter opener for Hermés. Comprised of more than 200 lots, this unparalleled auction will occur on October 13th; all lots will be on view in our Chicago gallery beginning October 6th.
