A Spectacular Auction Event
This exciting sale features toys and objects from the Mary Merritt Doll Museum. Founded in 1963 and housing 3500 dolls, the museum became a mecca for doll collectors for five decades. Toys were never a major focus but in the process of building the doll collection an amazing array of toy and toy related items found their way to the museum in Douglassville, PA., The sale also includes toys from the Bert Cohen Collection. Bostonian Bert Cohen hailed originally from the Leominster Massachusetts area where the colorful lithographed paper on wood toys by Reed were made. Collecting Reed was a natural for him - but his true passion was marbles - and he claims he has never lost his - so it was also a natural to collect all manner of marble toys. His Reed toys and marbles toys add to the variety of this sale. An added feature we call Attic Treasures: A number of unusual and rare items have been consigned to this sale fresh from American attics and basements - by original owners and very lucky ‘pickers’. These acquisitions have added immensely to the variety of this auction. Also, more dolls from the Joyce & John Davanzo Pride Lines Collection will round out the sale
as well as items from a diverse private collection of toys in
original boxes.
