Antique & Modern Jewellery

There are few better combinations than diamonds and pearls. As Jackie Kennedy famously said, ?pearls are always appropriate.? Thankfully, our November auction has plenty of choice - from diamonds and natural saltwater pearls, to designer items and antique jewellery. Plate 4 displays the diamond pieces this sale. Highlights include lot 225, a diamond single-stone ring certified as K colour and VVS2 clarity, and weighing over 6 carats with an estimate of £40,000-60,000. Lot 217 is another single-stone ring, this time certified as H colour, VVS2 clarity and weighing 3.58cts estimated at £15,000-20,000. Lot 33 is an elegant natural saltwater pearl single-strand necklace, with a guide price of £600-800. Lot 72 is a natural saltwater pearl and diamond ring, with the pearl measuring 8.8mms, estimated at £1,800-2,400. The designer plates showcase pieces from Bulgari, Georg Jensen, Cartier, Tiffany & Co., and Links of London to name a few. Adding a splash of colour is lot 331, a pink sapphire ?Magical Dawn Phi? pendant by Theo Fennell estimated at £700-900. A 1970s suite of jewellery by Danish designer Ole Lynggaard can be found in lots 324 to 326. The nephrite jade suite includes a bangle, necklace and ring with the crisp design so typical of this designer. The suite is offered with estimates from £240-780. Plate seven includes an assortment of antique items. Lots 387 and 374 are both Victorian portrait miniatures, one depicting a lady with a spaniel companion, and the other portraying a 17th Century Mughal empress and are offered with estimates of £150-200 and £300-400 respectively. A piece with provenance is lot 7, a late Georgian cameo novelty charm. The charm is designed as a drum with a cameo lid and is accompanied with an original note suggesting that the piece was gifted by a daughter of George III. This fascinating piece was possibly a vessel for carrying secret messages amongst the court, and is offered with an estimate of £300-400.
