terrible shipper tried to charge me an exorbitant amount for shipping a small photo.

It's expensive to have someone go to them, pick up your item, pack it, and then ship it to you. Not for purchasing low cost items. You need to spend several hundred dollars to try to justify the cost of receiving your item. Otherwise, they have some really great stuff to offer up for auction!!!

Only that the listing stated that the painting was "signed" underneath the frame. I inquired if this had been checked.. if the frame had been removed. Auction staff said they would check and get back to me. They did not. I purchased the painting and when I got it I removed the frame: the painting is not signed. However, I am confident of the attribution..

It feels as though many auction houses have kick-back deals with their local shippers. I purchased three relatively small pieces of sterling flatware that was sent in a box big with styrofoam large enough for a watermelon. What should have cost $15 to $20 to ship (even with labor), was in excess of $50.
