The auction house is great. Unfortunately, they ship though Live Auctioneers (that is South Bay told me) and the actual shipping price posted almost immediately after the auction was very significantly higher. Since the upcharge was way before they would have picked up the item, it couldn't have been due to misinformation they had received regarding size or weight. Called SouthBay and they said others also had the same complaint and they were checking into it. They said they would contact me when they heard back from Live auctioneers but haven't heard a word. It was crated beautifully, so no complaints about that. It's not great to get a surprise like that.

Items were as represented and dealing with this firm was professional in every way. The in-house shipping offered via Live Auctioneers was absurdly overpriced and I used the UPS store they recommended as an alternative. It saved me over $1300.

Quick responses to queries, staff very helpful. A shout out to the recommended shippers, too!

My 3 pots were as good if not better than described-all the way to California. They worked with the shipping company to get them to me in a timely manner-using the local shipper. A good experience.

Despite the listing stating that the auction house would do the shipping, it was handled by a 3rd party. They charged 40 dollars to handle and pack the gun, a new record high in 15 years of buying guns at auction. Next, they used a 52 inch box for a much shorter shotgun. Actually, it broke down quite easily and could have been shipped more safely and much cheaper in a shorter box. The price for shipping goes up considerably after 48 inches. I guess it doesn't matter when you are spending somebody else's money. Other than that, not bad. I did receive the item quickly, once the ransome was paid.
