Clars is close to home and I enjoy doing business with them.

Clars auction house refused to provide the provenance for the pieces sold, which is problematic with antiquities. They recommended a shipping company (The Packaging Store) that did such a terrible job packing, that the only item of real value in the box was destroyed. On top of that, they charged significantly more than any other shipping company I work with would for a comparable shipment..... I have things shipped to me weekly and ship all over the world myself almost daily, so I am well aware of costs. I am not likely to bid with them again and would discourage any of my clients from doing so....... and you can share that info with them. I am horrified and extremely upset. Axel

Item was damaged when purchased and auction house did not show this section in its photos.

It is confirmed that I inadvertently bid against myself. I registered using the same email through LiveAuctioneers and Invaluable (to use the iphone app), placed my initial bid through LiveAuctioneers on my PC, raised it on my Invaluable app, then raised it yet again back on my PC. Nowhere did I see a caution to use only one of the two platforms.. I know there were only three bidders on the item (# 700 on Aug 22) and I know that I was two of the three bidders, and perhaps three of the three. This is a serious issue yet I was not able to get a resolution from Clars, from Invaluable, or from Live Auctioneers. In my eyes this borders on fraud.

They don't do their own packing/shipping so there is no choice but to use a prohibitively expensive third party shipper. It really has put me off buying anything else from them.

Employees are allowed to bid creating a sense of mistrust when bidding. Pick up is maddeningly slow. I am forced to fill out the exact same resale information every single time I buy. It is ridiculous

purchased a lot of glass. description did not indicate any damage but many of the pieces (including the most potentially valuable pieces) were cracked and chipped. I understand that auction houses advice that you inspect items before bidding, but on-line auctions really should have more accurate descriptions if they are at all concerned about buyer satisfaction (which probably is wishful thinking on my part). I'll probably skip Clars auctions in the future.

The auction house gave our items to the wrong shipper. We informed the auction house which shipper we were going to use, the shipper we had already paid, and they handed the merchandise to the wrong shipper. Extremely incompetent and very scary as thousands of dollars of fragile merchandise was just handed over to someone.

This was my first auction on line and in person! I was extremely impressed with the staff and the way they handled each persons concern. I can not imagine better service and a more fun atmosphere

I have found them to be efficient. I informed them about errors in the description of some other lots and they corrected them immediately.

clars is a wonderful auction house, good people.

They are a good auction house I have bought many thing from them. Their communication isn't always the best. They have good items and will continue to buy from them.

Class outfit, answered all my questions and sent more pictures prior to final bid. I drove over and picked up, staff was great. Do business again with them for sure!

More information, condition reports on items valued over $500 min. bids, and more photos would be helpful. Also, more thorough system for combining auction purchases over several days would be helpful as a buyer. Separate daily invoices are counter productive for the buyer.

Liveauctineers and Clars need a better in house communication. I was send bills from LA that did not jive with the ones submitted from Clars. I had trouble at the auction gallery figuring this out with the front desk.
