Item misdescribed purposely
I purchased a very expensive Pauta Saila Inuit Bear Sculpture for over $10, 000 USD when I received it even though described as 10” in height the item was below 9” in height. Purposefully misrepresented by auction house. The auction house would not take payment by credit card because it was my first purchase from them so I they made me go through PayPal costing me an additional $400 on fees and exchange of funds from Canadian dollars to Canadian dollars. Lastly they insisted on charging me taxes even though item being shipped out of country said it was law but shortly there after I did the same with another auction house in Pennsylvania and was charged no tax because shipping to Canada. I will not be dealing with Freeman’s Auction House ever again how do you buy from them is they misdescribe what they are selling you.

Regarding the payment and tax issues: We do not have a policy that prohibits first time buyers from using credit cards, though our fraud protection will sometimes filter international cards. You were sent the PayPal credit card link, which should not have charged you any additional fees as those are absorbed by Freeman's automatically. The sales tax issue is a complex one, but without delving into the intricacies in this forum, sales tax was legally required, and you were advised of this in item 15 of our terms and conditions. Shipping
Freemann's does its job very well, but the pleasure stops when it comes to shipping the objects. Freemann's does not ship itself, and thus the buyer has to organize the transport. After contacting all recommended shipping companies for a quote, the cheapest quote was 1'100 USD (for a value of 900 USD). It took 7 (seven!) months until I finally received the auctioned items.

Wonderful auction house, questionable preferred shipper.
I recently purchased three antique books that are all around 150-200 years old in a lot from a Freeman's auction. Everything went over exceptionally well, until the shipping portion of the interaction, where I used their recommended UPS branch. Well, it turns out that this particular branch is a DBA branch and seemed to be understaffed and inexperienced shipping fragile items... After charging me nearly $100 to ship three books using UPS ground and having the package get forgotten to be picked up, then lost/delayed multiple times, my shipment arrived with all three of these very fragile books thrown in a single plastic back inside of an oversized box with zero packing paper or peanuts and the box had been crushed/dropped on every corner. The books were damaged in the process. It's unfortunate. These texts are very difficult to find. The UPS branch, to their credit, was responsive in refunding my money for shipping, but the whole process has made me uncomfortable buying from auctions like this where the items are released to an unknown third party at the recommendation of the seller. I decided not to pursue any of it further, as the items are quite rare and replacement would be nearly impossible. Anyway, nothing to say against Freeman's other than that I wished I had asked for alternatives to their preferred shipper as I am almost positive that they recommended two options. Overall, not a world-ending deal on a lot as small as mine (~ $300), but I figured I'd give a heads up to others and poke the auction house to revise their list of recommended logistics vendors.

There were numerous issues with condition. The way the items were staged in the photo mysteriously hid a chip on the Breininger plate. The largest and most valuable charger was cracked most of the way through. The sgrafito dog had all 4 legs broken and reglued. I questioned this when I picked up the items in person and the "Condition Expert" knew about that already. My company and I will never do business with them again. I would suggest you look for higher quality merchandise elsewhere.

We realize that you are disappointed with your purchase, but our terms and conditions clearly state that it’s up to the buyer to make a full inspection of the property prior to bidding, which includes requesting condition reports when you are not able to inspect the property in person. Mixed interactions with Freeman's
Having paid them directly after winning items in an auction I wrote asking about shipping. They referred me to a company (who did excellent work) but then wouldn't release the two lots I won. I contacted them after speaking with the shippers. They had inadvertently "missed" my payment in their PayPal account. But in speaking with me, they assumed I had not paid and that the error was all on my end. I received a perfunctory 'sorry' in an email, but after holding up shipment for two weeks they could have accepted more responsibility for their mistake and their unprofessional attitude.

Inconvenient
This was my first experience with Live Auctioneers, who led me to Freeman’s. A truly awful experience. Olivia, from Freeman’s, was very helpful and professional, which was the saving grace of this experience. First, I was billed twice and paid twice. Olivia quickly refunded my money. Second, Freeman’s does not ship your items. You ship them yourself. I have never heard of such a thing. The directions were not obvious or clear, so here it is two weeks after the auction and I am left wondering where my photograph is. I would never recommend this company.
