Absolutely horrid experience with several thousand dollars of antiquities. All arrived smashed, shipper was recommended by auction house, they admitted responsibility and then said they would not pay for damages. Still now 3 months later, I've received no call back from Mark Lawson, have received no compensation for totally destroyed items. UPS unwilling to work with receiver directly must have cooperation from shipper, but shipper totally AWOL. I would never again buy from this auctioneer or use Milton Pack and Ship. Horrendous customer service. All phone calls to auctioneer go directly to voicemail, never returned. They have their money, they don't care.

After an initial mix up with shipping, the auctioneer did not reply to ANY of the resultant emails I sent, or phone message left, regarding what was 'now' happening with my won item. It was six long weeks after the auction that I eventually received my won item, but have/had never heard back from any of the messages left or emails sent to the auctioneers (of what had happened to my item in the interim).

This is my first experience of purchasing something from an auction. It was very easy, and the description of the item was very accurate. I emailed Mark Lawson during the auction, and their responses were timely and professional.

Mark and his team provide accurate info about the item. Invariably I learn something important that I didn’t know before.

First transaction with Mark Lawson; will bid again.

If you bid on a lot of auctions as I do it gets confusing when I have to contact third parties to handle the shipping. I prefer auction houses that offer in-house shipping like this one. My experience with this auction house was a good one.

Had a few great experiences up until now. Paid promptly. Shipping options were both unresponsive and required numerous emails and phone calls. Copies of emails sent to house were responded to with form “Out of the office “emails. Not happy

I had never purchased from this auction house and I was happy with the auction and smooth all the way to deliver. The shipping UPS store that works with the gallery was very reasonable and professional.

The necklace I purchased is as represented, but much smaller than expected vs photos, but I should have read the description more carefully about stone sizes. Auction house very responsive and shipped my item quickly.

The transaction went well; the people at Mark Lawson are nice to deal with and the shipping also went well. My only beef is the stone in the ring was damaged which is why I am giving a three-star rating.

Make sure to get quote from both shippers, because one of them is very expensive.

The items were really pretty and I was glad to purchase them. As a person who loves antique jewelry, I always want to see pictures of the back of the piece. If it is a cameo, I would like to see a picture of the back the clearly shows any writing, numbers or inscriptions. Mark Lawson Antiques provided those pictures and it made me comfortable to bid. Also, I really liked that Mark Lawson Antiques worked with a local shipper to automatically have shipping quotes sent out after the auction. It definitely was a nice surprise. Thanks for a great experience start to finish.

I would bid again notwithstanding the absence of an all-important condition report (something that plagues too many OL auction sellers), when contacted MLA replied accurately. Not the fault of MLA but the shipper packed the items improperly and took a 300 % markup over actual shipping, which is exorbitant.

Love seeing wonderful pieces to buy. Hard to know where to shop now.

Mark Lawson Antiques Inc. uses an incompetent third party shipper whose only interest is gouging buyers for every penny they can on shipping. Shipped via USP, charge extra for their and bubble wrap. Buyer premium already high enough at without being stuck for more than double the legit shipping cost from an inept shipping store. In addition, shipper failed to COMPLETELY cover my items with bubble wrap, resulting in my jewelry (that was tossed into a sandwich bag) being banged around and damaged more. I was quoted 35.00 and charged 41.00 to ship 6 pieces of jewelry that weighed 8 ounce with the ! There is no other choice for shipping so you are stuck and they know this. Bad auction house choice, HORRIBLE SHIPPER; time for Mark Lawsons to provide the shipping service themselves (or absord the overcharges) rather than subject their customers to such egregious shipping costs.
