Antiques, Silver & Collectables Day One

Due to the unprecedented success of our first combined Antiques, Silver and Collectables sale in February, the May sale has expanded across two days. Day One comprises Silver, Coins and Medals, with highlights including two pieces by renowned Georgian silversmith Paul Storr. Lot 24 is particularly noteworthy, being a meat dish featuring the 1799 marriage crest of James Duff (later Earl of Fife, and a Major General in the Napoleonic Wars) to Caroline Manners. Other prominent lots include two table centrepieces of differing but equally impressive form: Lot 19 is a Victorian three-branch table candelabrum cast with hippocamps, whilst lot 49 is a Victorian trophy by E. & J. Barnard with 1856 Yachting Regatta prize inscription. Other distinguished makers include Albert Edward Jones, Omar Ramsden, and Gerald Benney. In the Coins and Medals section, notable examples include lot 578, an Oliver Cromwell Shilling, and a very notable Distinguished Flying Cross & Great War Medal Group to Captain Alec Cunningham-Reid, lot 626.
