Auction Details

Modern & Traditional Art, Antiques, Silver

From the wildly creative mind of Red Grooms, the auction features the sole kinetic model for his largest project, the famous life-sized Tennessee Foxtrot Carousel in Nashville. Litchfield County Auction's prototype 3-dimensional carousel anticipates all the features of the later project: 36 historic figures like Davy Crockett, Sequoyah, Andrew Jackson, and Wilma Rudolph electronically revolve at carousel speed accompanied by its original cassette soundtrack. Recently on exhibition at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art's "Red Grooms: Traveling Correspondent", the carousel has an auction estimate of $100,000-150,000. This auction also includes an original piece of art by Zao Wou-Ki, along with pieces from a 1016 Madison Ave Estate, along with many others.
