Fine Chinese Snuff Bottles

Celebrating 32 Years of Chinese Snuff Bottles at Galerie Zacke, Vienna: A Jubilee Auction Galerie Zacke was founded in Vienna, Austria, in 1968 and will celebrate its 50-year anniversary in a few months. In 1985, the founder, Irene M. Zacke, decided to introduce Chinese Snuff Bottles to the permanent program of the gallery with a series of three exhibitions, containing around 100 carefully chosen bottles each. The catalogues to these exhibitions were published in 1985, 1986 and 1987. Because of the success of the series, Snuff Bottles became regulars in Galerie Zacke?s annual exhibition and auction cycle for Chinese Art. In the past 32 years, the gallery has assisted enthusiasts from around the world in building their collections. It has also advised several clients on the sale of their Snuff Bottles both privately and through auction. Since 1985, a total of more than 5,000 Chinese Snuff Bottles went through our hands, many of which have turned out to be marvelous investments for their new owners. One of the true highlights during these years was the exhibition of the Mary and George Bloch collection in Vienna in the early 1990s. As a celebration of 32 years of Chinese SFine nuff Bottles at Galerie Zacke Vienna, we decided to select 88 bottles for a jubilee auction. These bottles come from various private collections as well as from the gallery stock, some of them having been acquired decades ago, and some of them more recently. In reminiscence of ?the good old days? we have tried to value the bottles at prices that were customary 32 years ago. Our intention was to create a little feast for the world?s Snuff Bottle lovers, so please enjoy browsing the auction catalogue and feel free to ask us any questions you might have. We are always at your service, just as in 1985, when our passion for Snuff Bottles started.
