Modern and Contemporary Art+Design

Cowan's spring auction of Modern and Contemporary Art + Design will feature a diverse group of exceptional items ranging from paintings, prints and photographs to ceramics, glass and furniture. Significant highlights include Josef Albers Ten Variants, a portfolio of screen prints from 1966 (lot 10), prints Georges Braque (lot 2), Helen Frankenthaler (lot 9) and Zao Wou Ki (18), and a monumental abstract painting by Carl Robert Holty (lot 51). A collection of mid-century modern furniture designed by Edward Wormley for Dunbar is particularly noteworthy. Additionally, the auction will feature a George Nakashima sideboard (lot 78) and important ceramics by Claude Conover (lot 108), Gordon Baldwin (lot 107) and Gwyn Hanssen Pigott (lot 98).
