Prehistoric and Historic Artifact Auction

Featuring the James Weisenborn Collection. The Weisenborn Collection is a family collection, dating back several generations. In 1950, Jim began a close friendship with a fellow Quincy (IL) resident, B.W. Stephens. Stephens introduced him to a network of old time collectors. Jim began adding quality artifacts to his family collection and did so for the next 20+ years. In 1976, The Weisenborn Collection was featured in Who's Who in Indian Relics #4. After nearly 50 years, the collection is now being offered to the public. There are over 30 fine Axes in this auction. Some were documented in Keokuk Axes, 1970's Central States Archaeological Journals and other publications. Many of the flint artifacts featured in WW#4 are also in this sale. The sale also contains select consignments from Kenneth Rowland, Captain Tom Miller and Eddie Freyer. Being offered are dozens of relics pictured in artifact publications and nearly 100 with independent COAs - including fine Midwestern Dovetails papered by Tom Davis and Large Flint Blades papered by Dwain Rogers. Highlights of this sale include one of the finest Keokuk Axes illustrated in Keokuk Axes (Filbrandt), a Quartz Cupped Discoidal once the Clem Caldwell Collection, one of the finest Taylor Engraved Bottles we've seen and some very fine Bannerstones. An Owl Effigy Pipe and Slate Birdstone, each published over 100 years ago by Moorehead can also be found in this offering. There is truly something for everyone in this sale. Rarely does and artifact collection, untouched for 50 years, become available to the public. Don't miss this opportunity.
