The Scott Cheshire Collection of Chelsea Football Programmes
Scott Cheshire (1927-2006)
Graham Budd Auctions is honoured to be offering the superb collection of Chelsea match programmes amassed by the late Scott Cheshire and spanning the entire history of the London club.
Scott Cheshire was born and bred in Chelsea and saw his first match at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day 1933 when his father, a season ticket holder, took him to see the match against Sunderland which Chelsea won 4-0. From that day began a life long love affair with Chelsea FC as 'Scottie' followed the club's fortunes for over 70 years.
As an esteemed club historian, Scott Cheshire became a regular contributor in the club's match day programme since 1972 and wrote several books on Chelsea's history. As well a being authoritative and learned literary works on Chelsea FC, Scottie's books have been described as 'acts of love.'
Scottie was a fine footballer and represented Oxford University in the first ever inter-varsity match played at Wembley Stadium in 1953 and played for the famous amateur side Pegasus. He was subsequently Master-In-Charge of Football at Repton School from 1959 to 1967. His other great interest was cricket and he played for Sussex CCC 2nd XI for three summers.
Scott Cheshire has left an invaluable legacy through his magnificent collection of Chelsea football programmes. This auction affords a unique opportunity to acquire properties from this famous collection.
