WHY WAIT? THE EMMANUEL RODRIGUE COLLECTION

RSL Auction Company is delighted to announce that they have been selected to sell the 46 year collection of Mr. Emmanuel Rodrigue of Paris, France.

This sale, named the "Why Wait" Auction, will feature over 200 mechanical banks and bank trade cards all fresh to the market. None of these items have been on the open market for over 25 years. Emmanuel, a Paris native, bought his first mechanical bank, a Jolly N with High Hat, while on a trip to England in 1960. He followed that with the Patronize the Blind Man which he bought at the Paris Flea Market in 1961. He was smitten by the color, action and charm of these banks. He spent the next 20 years amassing his beautiful collection. He joined the Mechanical Bank Collectors of America in 1970 and quickly became friends with many of America's top collectors.

During the 1960's and 1970's Emmanuel Rodrigue made several mechanical bank discoveries. Included are the British Lion Bank made by Saalheimer and Strauss, both examples of the Saluting Sailor Bank (mentioned in a Floyd Griffith article in Hobby Magazine during the early 1970's) and the Automatic Strong Man to name just a few. The Rodrigue's used these bank discoveries to trade for great examples of American cast iron mechanical banks. Some of the highlights of the Rodrigue collection include: Girl Skipping Rope (Pristine Condition), Patronize the Blindman (Near Mint Condition), Uncle Remus (Near Mint Condition), Afghanistan Bank (Pristine Plus Condition), Horse Race Bank (Near Mint Condition with Original Box), British Lion Bank (Near Mint Condition), Lion Hunter Bank (Pristine Condition) and the Bulldog Savings Bank (Pristine Plus Condition).
