Day 1 of an important 2-day auction featuring ancient and ethnographic art from around the world. Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Viking, Near Eastern plus Asian Art from China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Burma, India, more. The majority of the lots offered comes from a lifetime collection out of Carlsbad, CA, never offered for sale before. Avid travelers and connoisseurs, M&T began buying ancient art in the 1970s and soon amassed an extensive array of fine Classical, Pre-Columbian, and tribal art. Using some of the finest and most reputable sources throughout the country, much of their collection was purchased through Sotheby's, Stendahl, Ken Bower, Robert and Maryann Huber, Mildred Kaplan (Arte Primitivo), Ron Messick, Jimmy Economos and several others. While M&T have loved their collection, and collecting in general, they feel it is time to share these wonderful items with others. As such they have expressed their desire to price their collection below typical auction reserves and at prices that will entice both new and experienced collectors alike.
