Estate of Hellen and Joe Darion

Rago Auctions is honored to be offering a diverse group of South Asian works on paper, sculpture, furniture and decorative arts from the Estate of Hellen and Joe Darion. Joe Darion, The Tony Award-winning lyricist of Man of La Mancha and his wife Hellen spent much of their lives collecting Chinese, Japanese, Korean and South Asian works, many at auction or from highly respected dealers. Many of the works being offered are formerly of the collection of Dr. Fred Olsen (1891-1986), widely considered to be one of the greatest collectors of the 20th century. Highlights include a sandstone Khmer Head of Brahma, 17th-19th c. Indian Illustrations, 15th-18th c. Persian manuscript pages, and other artifacts from India and Southeast Asia.
