2026 - Photographs & Photographic Literature

On December 7, just in time for the holidays, Swann Galleries offers sale 2026, a two-session auction of 19th & 20th Century Photographs and Photographic Literature. The auction includes many charming images and an extensive private collection of photographically illustrated books. The morning session of photographs includes vernacular images and masterworks by notable photographers from the last two centuries. A diverse selection of books from the library of Daniel Edelstone, MD, a passionate collector of modernist photography books, will be offered in the afternoon. ======================================================== On Thursday, December 9th Swann Galleries offers sale 2027, an unusual selection of Maps & Atlases at auction. Highlights include rare early atlases, a large selection of maps of Canada and North America, and beautiful European city views. There is a 1511 world atlas by Ptolemy, an early state of Herman Moll’s so-called “Beaver Map,” with its charming inset illustration of beavers working on a dam, and Petro Plancius’s 1594 double-page engraved double-hemispheric map noted both for its accuracy and its decorative border. ======================================================== On Dec 16, Swann offers sale 2028, a collection of Art Nouveau Posters.
