February Fine Art & Mid-Century Auction

Stefek's February Fine Art and Mid-Century Auction showcases several important mid-century pieces, fine art, sterling silver, and a collection of oriental rugs and other decorative items. Featured mid-century design includes pieces by Charles and Ray Eames, Edward Wormley, Bruno Mathsson, and George Nelson. Highlights of the mid-century design category include a c. 1950s-60s Charles and Ray Eames 670/671 Lounge Chair and Ottoman, and Edward Wormley for Dunbar 5294 Buffet Table, two Bruno Mathsson "Eva" lounge chairs, and a Borge Mogensen Danish Teak Secretary. A fine oil on canvas painting depicting hunting dogs by Jules Bertrand Gelibert will be on offer, as well as an oil on board seascape by N.R. Brewer, a large acrylic on canvas titled "Trees" by David Sharpe, and a mixed-media work by Charles Culver titled "Landscape with Flowering Dogwood". Several maritime paintings will be included in the auction, including work by G.H. Wheatley, Percy Ives, F. Carlos Lopez, and William Gourley. A number of bronze items will be on the auction block, with works including Frederic Remington restrikes, a large bronze running horse sculpture, and a pair of near life-size Asian-style bronze deer sculptures. Featured sterling pieces include a John Polhamus for Tiffany & Co. sterling silverware set, a set of Wallace Silver "King Christian" sterling silverware, and several lots of sterling including pieces by Heirloom, Gorham, Towle, Reed & Barton, Stieff, and Mexican sterling.
