Highlights from the auction include a large, limited edition portrait of Italian artist, Francesco Clemente, 1994 by Herb Ritts (estimate $6,000 - $8,000; Reserve: $3,000); a portrait of country music icons, June Carter and Johnny Cash, 2001 by Annie Leibovitz (estimate $6,000 - $8,000; R: $3,000); a beautiful print of Harry Callahanâ??s Eleanor, Chicago, 1952, an image of the photographerâ??s wife and muse (estimate $6,000 - $8,000; R: $3,000) Additional highlights include Diane Arbusâ?? Untitled (10), 1970-71, part of a series about disabled adults, and â??considered one of the towering achievements of American Art.â? (NYT, Nov 15, 2018) (estimate $6,000 - $8,000; R: $3,000); and a series of photographs covering the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s, by Charles Moore (estimates range from $1000 - $3,000; R: $500 - $1500). Some lot estimates start as low as $500. Other photographers included in the sale: Garry Winogrand, Ken Josephson, W. Established in 1981, Etherton Gallery is best known for its expertise in American and Mexican photography.
