Early American History Auctions, Inc. (EAHA) announces the release of the catalog for its February 14, 2009 Mail Bid & Internet Auction, consisting of 992 Auction Lots of Autographs, Coins, Currency, Encased Postage, Civil War Material, Prints and other Authentic, Historic Americana. Celebrating the Bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's Birth We celebrate February 12, 1809, the date Abraham Lincoln was born in Hardin County, Kentucky. The month of February 2009, America Commemorates the Bicentennial of that birth and honors the memory of this remarkable American President. Our front cover image displays one of the most famous and historic broadsides in the history of the United States. On the evening of Good Friday, April 14, 1865 Abraham Lincoln was assassinated at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C. by the actor John Wilkes Booth. This original example of that extremely rare reward poster was issued just days after that dire event during the massive efforts to capture Booth and his fellow conspirators. It is perhaps the finest known existing example of its type. This extraordinary document can be found pictured in virtually every major American history reference book. This remarkable auction lot begins a special section of Abraham Lincoln commemorative related memorabilia, while additional Lincoln material can be located in our Autograph and Political sections.
