ROMANTIC VINTAGE FOR YOUR VALENTINE - PART 2

UNSOLD LOTS FOR DAY 2 SALE BEGIN AFTER LOT 126 The second half of our February Historical Fashion, Vintage Couture and Rare Textile auction will feature 112 lots of new-to-market vintage pieces come from numerous museums and historical societies with a few select private collections added. With so many never-before-seen vintage treasures, this promises to be one of our best auctions yet - full of surprises. The first half of the sale featured an exceptional Gabrielle Chanel Couture Evening Cape, c. 1923. This piece is a rare example of Chanel's collaboration with the Russian Kitmir embroidery shop, which pervaded her work during her liaison with The Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich. The cape, which has remained in a private collection since it's original purchase in 1923 has never before been offered for public sale. The cape was the star of the first part of this sale, held on February 10th The second half of the sale will feature a collection of exquisite 1830-1880s silk gowns from the Museum of the City of New York, a rare silver embroidered sarafan style Regency era gown, Chinese robes, ethnic costumes including Ottoman and Indian garments, three impeccably preserved mens suits from the Edwardian Era as well as works by Irene, Bonnie Cashin, Lea Stein, Shultz & Pavone. Also included in this sale are Victorian & Edwardian gowns, corsets, lingerie & foundations, Chinese robes, traditional clothing & textiles from around the globe, fabulous vintage evening & day wear, hats, gloves & handbags and an extensive variety of 20th C galalith & bakelite jewelry.
