Native American Art: Session 1

Session One features over 225 lots of contemporary and historic Native American Art, including works on paper, pueblo pottery, kachinas, basketry and Navajo textiles. Highlights of the first session include classic examples of late 19th century Zia, Acoma, Santo Domingo and San Juan pottery as well as fine works from contemporary masters such as Nancy Youngblood, Russell Sanchez, James Ebelacker, Christine McHorse , LuAnn Tafoya and Richard Zane Smith. We also have a strong offering of Navajo textiles, including two Third Phase Chief?s Blankets and a Navajo Transitional Textile, circa 1890 with a rare Weaving Comb Motif. Our works on paper section features early work from the Santa Fe Indian School and several wonderful examples of this era from the personal collection of contemporary Dine painter Tony Abeyta.
