Andrewski Coll. of Cinema & Rare Books # VII

The auction of The Gene Andrewski Collection of Cinema Part VII includes what has become the ongoing mix of movie posters, inserts, lobby cards, press books, exhibitors campaign books, original scripts, photographs by the Hollywood celebrity photographers, ISP's and autographs. Also included in this sale is The Andrewski Library of rare first editions which were made known to us recently. Although we had been given a first edition of Gone With the Wind and Hilton's Lost Horizon which were sold in a recent auction, we were unaware that an entire library of rarities existed. Gene Andrewski was introduced to classic literature by his mother at age seven and soon developed his own flair for writing. He would later serve as the first managing editor of The Paris Review working alongside George Plimpton and others. There are thousands of items included in the approx. 450 lots of this auction. Included are some items from the Cinema Collection of the late Buddy McDaniel. All of us at Mid-Hudson Galleries mourn his recent passing. As has become our tradition, following the conclusion of the internet auction we will offer about 100 lots to those gathered in the room as a thank you to those who come to the auction and participate live. In the past, this has been fun and the buying is great.
