Bohemian Elegance: Estate of Mario Villa

Featuring original and collected works from the home of highly acclaimed New Orleans artist, furniture maker, designer, and collector Mario Villa (1953-2021). Mario Villa was a Nicaraguan-born, New Orleans-based artist and designer who produced sleek Neoclassical-inspired furniture and jewelry with a modern flare. His distinctive designs were highly sought-after and acquired by high-profile clients such as Princess Caroline of Monaco, Kevin Costner, and Carol Burnett. Villa's collection, from his historic home on Bayou St. John in New Orleans, is an eclectic array of stylish original Mario Villa furniture, fine European religious paintings, antique European furniture, and many works of art by his own contemporaries in New Orleans. The extravagant interior of his home was overflowing with objet d'arts, paintings, sculpture, furniture, decorative arts, and other wares that beautifully highlighted the artist's own rich Latin American heritage. Exhibition for this exclusive auction will be held at our 4038 Magazine Street Gallery beginning May 9, 10 am ? 5 pm. Special late night exhibition, May 10 from 5 pm - 7 pm.
