East to West: Furniture and Design

Stefek's June East to West: Furniture and Design Auction displays an exciting array of fine furniture, artwork, jewelry, sterling silver, and much more. Our furniture selection includes Chinese furniture from the Ming Dynasty, lacquered cabinets and altar tables, and carved wood Chinese chairs with hidden compartments. Fine marquetry buffets and commodes with marble tops will be on offer with an array of ornamental decorative pieces. Mid-century pieces of note include a dining table and chairs by Tommi Parzinger, a large desk in the style of Jens Risom, tables and an armchair by TH Robsjohn-Gibbings for Widdicomb, and an incredible John Wisner for Ficks Reed bamboo patio set. Stefek's will be presenting a collection of paintings by French artist Henri Maik, a large tempera on board by Heinz Rabbow, a portrait of Marlene Dietrich by Eberhard Huckstadt, a monumental sculpture of Haile Selassie by Jacob Epstein, and several bronze sculptures including works by Stefan Reichmann, Parducci, Paul Wunderlich, Pierre Schumann, after Hippolyte Moreau, after Emilio Fiaschi, and more. Jewelry on offer includes a platinum marquise diamond ring, a pair of 14k white gold scalloped diamond earrings, a 14k yellow gold nugget-design ring, and several lots of rings, earrings, brooches, and necklaces. Sterling silver items include works by Buccellati, Gorham, Towle, Georg Jensen, Reed and Barton, Meriden Britannia, Shreve and Co., and Bailey, Banks, and Biddle. A gorgeous Persian Shah Abbasi Nain rug will also be on offer. Made in Iran in the 1950s-60s, this hand-woven rug has approximately 576 knots per square inch and a very attractive geometric floral design.
