Decorative Arts Sale

Thousands of treasures will be offered at Pook & Pook's first ever three-day Decorative Arts Auction, June 15th, 16th, and 17th. Each session begins at 10 am. The auction includes furniture, including a corner cupboards, wing chairs, rockers, lolling chairs, as well as ladderback and Windsor examples. Tea tables, candlestands, tavern tables and a Federal Pembroke table will be offered. Other furniture highlights include a Regency Canterbury, a dry sink, bucket benches and wall cupboards along with a sofa, a French marble top chest and a slant front desk. The auction will feature several sideboards, a Chippendale dining table, a set of ten Chippendale style chairs, tavern tables, hunt boards, bench tables and step back cupboards. Fine art offerings include paintings, portraits, fraktur, carvings, sculpture, and prints. Decorative ceramics will be led by a grouping of blue willow porcelain, dozens of Boehm birds, vases, a dresser boxes, a Meissen figure and several pieces of spatterware. Colorful accessories in the sale include French faience, Royal Doulton, majolica and a Staffordshire figure. Also crossing the block will be mirrors, a pair of French candelabra, a student lamp, clocks and assorted little storage boxes and containers. Items for the kitchen include a tea caddy, pantry boxes, silver napkin rings, Wedgwood china, and a set of Gorham Melrose pattern sterling flatware. As with most auctions, there are numerous pieces in the collectibles category. A large selection of weaponry includes Nazi daggers, Japanese bayonets, a Simeon North flintlock pistol, German lugers, Colt revolvers and Smith & Wesson revolvers. Three cased pairs of dueling pistols will attract attention as well as a Savage & North 3rd model figure 8 Navy revolver. Rounding out the sale will be a group of toys and mechanical banks, German chocolate molds, and a collection of cast iron doorstops, Oriental rugs, hooked rugs, quilts and other textiles.
