Moran?s is pleased to announce our American Indian Art + Objects auction on October 4th. This sale will include a wide variety of art and objects made by indigenous North Americans including both historic and contemporary pottery, jewelry, baskets, bronzes, and fine art. Pueblo pottery artists include Late 19th Century Nampeyo canteen as well as those from more contemporary artists like Russell Sanchez, Mela Youngblood, Randall Chitto, Tina Garcia, Mark Tahbo, Maria Martinez, and Lucy Leuppe McKelvey among others. Veronica Poblano?s wire-formed jewelry leads the jewelry selections along with an Artland Ben silver and gold concho belt and bolo tie owned by Gregory Sierra from the Barney Miller show. The North American Indian Vol. 18 and 9 by Edward S. Curtis along with several other photogravures are included alongside George Catlin images and more contemporary fine art by important artists such as Tony Da, Fritz Scholder, Grey Cohoe, Lisa Daniele as well as bronze work by Larry Yazzie. Of note is the Tlingit ?Wolf Hat? by Preston Singletary and the historic late 19th Century oyster catcher rattle. Plains Indian moccasins and beadwork, Navajo, Hopi, Apache, and Pima basketry will have fine examples offered. Over 60 lots of Zuni carved stone fetish animals will highlight the auction by notable carvers such as Gibbs Othole, Quandelacy, Dan Quam, Albert Eustace, Karen Zunie, and Danie Chattin to name just a few.
