Prehistoric and Historic Artifact Auction
We are pleased to introduce two consignors for this auction. Mark Spangler has been an avid collector over the past 20 years. His collection contains a variety of artifacts, including a fine selection of Spiro material. Mark also collected Mississippian and Quapaw pottery as well as a variety of flint (including his assemblage of Alibates). Dr. Glenn McQuaide is a professor of Biology in Kentucky. He was intested in artifacts for decades before putting his collection in storage some 10 years ago. Glenn's collection is full of good old relics mixed in with Kentucky Flint. His collection is well documented. You'll also see some more of the Richard Niehoff pottery collection and a larger consignment from the Burton/Teubner offering. This offering includes a fine Colima Dog Effigy ceramic and a rare Huari Human Effigy.
There are many pieces already with certificates of authenticity from respected authenticators. Dozens of there relics shown here have been documented in journals of books. I have to mention the red and white Quartz Bannerstone of the cover of the auction catalog. Vivid colors. Also want to note the large Paleo points in this sale including a Buffalo River Cumberland with long flutes on both sides.
