An eclection auction of 200 lots from the private collection of a 78-year-old book dealer. This is a collector’s auction--it contains only a couple of modern books. Early children’s books, many older first editions (some with jackets), scarce sets, military, autographed books and more, including several Walt Disney comic books from the ‘40s and ‘50s. Highlights in this auction include a true first edition of The Little Prince with all correct first edition points. This wonderful example is clean and sound and would be a fine addition to any serious collection. A solid set of George Catlin’s renowned two-volume work on the manners, customs and conditions of North American Indians is present in this auction with all 312 color plates present. Jervis Cutler’s very scarce 1812 book on the topographical descriptions of Indiana, Ohio and other territories is a fine addition to this sale. This book is notable for having the first image of Cincinnati published in a book. “Redlands,†a scarce 1927 photographic survey of Redlands, California is presented here in excellent condition. It is a first edition. An original 1910 Stickley Furniture catalog, a complete early set of My Bookhouse for Children, Anson’s Voyage Round the World (1768, with all maps intact) and many other surprises make this a great collector’s auction to start off the year.
