Prehistoric & Historic Artifact Auction

This offering includes 414 lots of Prehistoric and Historic Artifacts. MOST HAVE BEEN AUTHENTICATED, MANY HAVE BEEN PICTURED AND SOME ARE MUSEUM QUALITY. This auction includes museum quality Flint Artifacts, Bannerstone, Axes and Pipes. We are very pleased to offer this portion of the Dr. John Ryan Collection. Dr. Ryan collected for many years. While his collection is varied, he particularly enjoyed the large Celts and Axes that were found in the Falls of the Ohio area (Kentucky and Indiana). Some of his Axes were dredged by the Kentucky Sand Company before they went out of business in 1929. Dr. Ryan acquired the old Cobb collection and assimilated it into what would become a sizable artifact assemblage. Dr. Ryan enjoyed artifacts from a scholarly viewpoint, learning all that he could about the cultures that made them. He hopes that those who acquire his artifacts enoy them as much as he did.
