Arms, Armor & Militaria

Cowan's, a Hindman Company, is proud to present our Spring 2023 premier sale. On offer are a selection of firearms with movie provenance, a collection of rare early autoloading pistols, Civil War Arms, edged weapons, and accoutrements, scarce high end sporting arms, WWII era small arms, and a selection of high-end modern pistols. Among the highlights for the sale is a Model 1892 Winchester rifle that once belonged to John Wayne's own Batjac Productions, and previously on loan to the National Firearms Museum for their "Hollywood Guns" showcase. This is joined by a Single Action Army revolver utilized by Kirk Douglas in the movie "The War Wagon", in which he starred opposite Wayne. Further highlights are a C93 Borchardt Pistol with accessories that appeared on the cover of Guns magazine in 1969, a Browning Model 1919A4 Machine Gun with Accessories rebuilt by W.K. Jones, and a Charles Daly Auguste Francotte 20 Gauge Shotgun owned by film legend Gary Cooper. The edged weapons selection includes a Massive Antebellum Baton Rouge Presentation Bowie Knife, a Fine Alfred Hunter Bowie Knife with Carved Ivory Hilt, and a Presentation Sword of Ohio Surgeon General Joseph E. Lowes. For those with sporting interests, the sale features a rare 28 Gauge Peter Chapman double barrel shotgun, a Boss & Company Sidelock double, and a Parker DHE Grade 12 Gauge Shotgun with its original receipt in spectacular condition.
