Prehistoric & Historic Artifact Auction

The Old Barn is pleased to offer at auction May 5, 2012 an Indian Artifact Auction at 10:00 AM Eastern Time. Some of the items are from the Robert Schupp Collection from Painesville - OH, Fred VanDyke from Niles - MI, and Lloyd Dugstad Collection of Albortlea -MN. Robert Schupp's Father, Samuel B. Schupp found these items at Hohokam Site Provenance, Prehistoric Indians, Arizona . Robert's father, Samuel was born in Kirtland, Ohio in 1898. He bought a five acre lot in new subdivision in Mesa, Arizona in 1955 and built a small house on Princess Drive the spring of 1957, Samuel and Robert's Mother vacationed there for two to three months each winter for about 14 years. He had several friends who dug for relics and he became interested in the Hohokam Site and started to dig, he became a friend of Mr. Turley. Mr. Turley was a large cotton grower, and also a member of the Arizona State Legislature. Mr. Turley gave Samuel permission to dig on his land. His favorite site was at the corner of Rittenhouse and Queen Creek Roads, it was quite a large site across the road to one of Mr. Turley's Cotton Fields. Mr. Turley was a Mormon, at that time most of the farmers in the area were followers of the Mormon Faith. There will be approximately 650 lots for the beginner to the most advanced collector.
