Unparalleled in scope and refinement, the collection of Ann and Gordon Getty represents one of the most esteemed and significant private collections in America. Mrs. Getty was known for her sophisticated layering of antiques and textiles in her interiors, as well as her reverence for architectural integrity. Over the course of decades, the Gettys amassed an extraordinary collection of museum-worthy works of art, English and European furniture, decorative arts, and diverse treasures of the highest quality from across the globe, many of which were sold at the recent series of successful Christie's sales. The Collection of Ann and Gordon Getty is full of wonder, discovery, and bold opulence steeped in historical references and a freshness that illustrates Mrs. Getty?s remarkable eye.
Highlights in the January auction include English, French, and Continental furniture, European paintings as well as Chinese and European porcelain, and exquisite objects for entertaining, as well as a plethora of other fine and decorative objects. The February auction will focus on the late 19th and early 20th-century decorative arts, from the early Aesthetic Movement through Art Deco, encompassing Mrs. Getty's interest in collecting for the interior at Temple of Wings.
