Ohio Art Toys, Black Americana, F&F, More

SALE DESCRIPTION: Stony Ridge Auction is selling the lifelong Ohio Art Toys, Cupid Awake and Cupid Asleep collections and the black Americana collection of Marilyn and Dale Taylor of Bryan, OH. Both Mr. and Mrs. Taylor worked at Ohio Art for over 40 years (88 combined years). Their passion for these treasures had them traveling all over the USA in search of the rare and unique items to round out their collection. They have decided to part with their entire collections to concentrate on their retirement years freeing them to travel and to enjoy their time with family and friends. The couple is well known to many Ohio Art collectors as they have been members of Ohio Art collector clubs and conventions attendees for more than 25 years. Some of their collection highlights spanning from 1908 to 1970s include several RARE toys - a 1930s Mickey Mouse #40 Laundry tub and wash board; Mickey Mouse #50 pail; the earliest 6 toys ever made by Ohio Art - two 1917 Wind Mills in original boxes, 1920s #44 Alarm Bank in original box, late 1920s Snowman and Little Girl snow shovel, 1928 ABC Wagon, 1920s Nursery Rhyme Cart, and a push toy; a 1930s #75 Railroad Train - black locomotive and two coach cars in original box; early tea sets; and Dale's pride - 18 professionally restored Buckeye Trucks. Dean worked in Ohio Art's paint shop and had access to all the correct paint colors and other items needed to make these trucks in like new condition. Much of the reference material used in describing the sale was from their reproduced merchants' catalogs from 1931 through 1949 and original catalogs from 1960s to 1990s. Catalogs are selling as part of the auction's lots.
