On Sunday, March 10th at 10:00 AM, Abell Auction Co. will present an important Fine Art and Antique Sale offering over 500 lots of fine art and sculpture, antiques, fine jewelry, silver, Chinese porcelain and furniture, and appointments from estates throughout Southern California. One of the many quality Southern California estates Abell will be offering is that of Micheline Lerner. Mrs. Lerner was the ex-wife of famed composer Alan Jay Lerner, who with partner Frederick Loewe created some of the most famous musicals of the 20th century for the stage and screen including An American in Paris, Gigi, My Fair Lady, Camelot, and many more. Mrs. Lerner was a French aristocrat and a direct descendant of Napoleon Bonaparte. Her Paris apartment was decorated by the famed design firm Maison Jansen, and when she moved to Los Angeles to reside in her John Wolff home in the Hollywood Hills, she brought much of the furniture and furnishings along. On behalf of Pepperdine University in Malibu, Abell will be selling a collection of fine 18th & 19th century French furniture including an exquisitely carved Louis XV walnut armoire, an excellent Chinese altar table, a highly carved Italian Baroque walnut library table, and other fine antiques. In addition Abell will be auctioning property from Telluride, Colorado. Many quality carpets including many Heriz and various Turkish and Persian throw rugs will be offered. In addition a large collection of sporting art paintings by Scott Yeager and vintage advertising posters will be sold. From the estate of interior designer Andrew Gerhard, Abell will be offering a wonderful work by Wojciech Fangor titled M15; three Richard MacDonald bronzes; and paintings by Wolf Kahn, William McCloskey, Theodore Butler, Edouard Cortes, Evgene Lansere bronze of a Cossack after battle. Please be aware that Sunday, March 10th is the first day of daylight savings and that the sale will begin at 10:00am PST
