FINE ANTIQUES & ESTATES AUCTION
The sale is distinguished by an abundance of prominent collections from the Eastern states to the southern borders, featuring high-end luxury furniture consigned from one of Buckhead's most prestigious residences as well as items from an estate on New York City's exclusive East 57th Street. An outstanding collection of fine Meissen, Dresden, and Staffordshire that was recently removed from Pennsylvania and NY from The Binert Estate will also be offered. Exceptional articles from lifetime collectors such as Willliam J. Suttles from Sandy Spring will also be presented. This auction has everything that would appeal to even the most discriminating collector.
One of our most featured items, which will occur at Lot 20, is an important bronze bust portraying the fantastical American actress Tallulah Bankhead, star of stage and screen through the 1920's, 30's and 40's. The work was sculpted by the British artist Frank Dobson (1888-1963) who is distinguished by his concentration of the female figure depicted in an attitude of serenity and composure. The 26 ½" high bronze shows the alluring Tallulah in a graceful pose with her head resting softly against her hand.
Another sculpture of note, Lot 120, is a period cast iron bronze after Spinario depicting a young nude male figure seated on a tree stump. The green patina work is mounted on a 21" marble base and stands 32" high.
