Important Russian art and antiques including items from the Ambassador Laurence Steinhardt collection (United States Ambassador to the USSR 1939-1942) and the collection of noted Russian/German Surgeon, Dr. Franz Julius Rose (1873-1975) all fresh to the market having been in the hands of the family for well over 75 years. This sale features a selection of Russian silver and enamel representing various workshops including Fabergé, Ovchinnikov, Sazikov, 20th Artel and many others. Also a good amount of works from the Imperial Porcelain Factory as well as other porcelain firms. Plus paintings and bronzes by Sergei Vinogradov, Sergei Vasilkovsky, Mihail Berkos, Konstantin Korovin, Dmitri Kransnopevtsev, Evgeny Lansere, Evgeny Naps, Feliks Khodorovich and others. Over 125 Russian icons circa 1600-1915 including many fine and hard to find subjects and examples from an extensive U.S. private collection, including a good selection in the style of the various Moscow court painters workshops circa 1880-1910 such as Gurianov, Chirikov, Dikariev and Emelianov. Also Russian lacquerware, some militaria, arts and crafts, books and manuscripts, jewelry and more. Including over 200 Old Master, American and European paintings by listed artists as well as over 40 European and American Bronzes and sculptures. A good offering of European works including carved and polychrome sculpture. A very fine offering of Chinese and Japanese silver including a monumental floral repousse tureen with figural dragon handles, a Shibayama mounted silver cabinet, plus fine Chinese ceramics circa 1600-1900, carved ivories and jades.
