Winter Feature Auction - Day 1

More than 1,200 lots too be sold over two sessions. On Saturday, we will present an amazing array of fine art paintings and sculpture, including works by Louis Kronberg, John Appleton Brown, Edward Loyal Field, George E. Forster, Albertus Verhoesen, Charles Warren Eaton, Felix Ziem, Emile Boisseau, William Russell Flint, Uriah Dyer, Kate Greenaway, George Cruikshank, and Jules Moigniez, plus many early American and European portraits. Among the folk art will be a circa 1900 Charles Dare carousel horse, an 18th c. hand painted tavern sign, early weathervanes, a 19th c. walrus tusk with scrimshaw decoration, an early ship’s figurehead, whirligigs, and a sperm whale sculpture. American Colonial era silver will also be sold on this day. American and European furniture offerings will include an 18th c. Italian mahogany & ivory inlaid fall front desk, an 18th c. American pine cupboard with original paint, and a French Louis XV period ladies corner escritoire. Examples of Chinese porcelain, carved jade, oriental furniture, bronzes, and a rhino horn ink bottle will be offered; and Native American craftsmanship will be represented with baskets, pottery, and jewelry items. Antiquities will include a Mayan Stone Panel plus Middle Eastern, Greek and Roman pottery, Egyptian artifacts, and early Persian and Asian items. An outstanding group of hooked rugs, many from the Pribyl Collection, exquisite oriental carpets, Persian and Flemish tapestries, early samplers, rare documents, and firearms, including 2 signal cannons, will also be offered.
