10am, Session 1: Vintage Fashion, lots 1 to 250 2pm, Session 2: Textile Treasures, lots 251 to end of sale On April 8th, the morning session is devoted to vintage and antique fashion and accessories (lot 1 - 250), but the afternoon session, from 2pm, is crammed with superb textiles and robes (from lot 251). The vintage fashion session begins with the second part of the Henning Thorsen collection (lots 1 to 61) as well as a fine 1770s open robe (lot 141), a pair of shoes which belonged to Princess Beatrice sold with dried flowers from Queen Victoria's bouquet (lot 129). Designers from the 20th century include Christian Dior, Nina Ricci, Biba, Ossie Clark, Thea Porter, Westwood/McLaren and fabulously beaded Lancetti couture. The textile session has as its core a superb single owner private collection which includes shimmering ikat silk robes, lavish Bukharan robes of Russian brocade, Chinese robes and hangings (including an apricot ground dragon robe, lot 251), Japanese, Indian, Ottoman, Moroccan, Persian (there is a Resht panel almost 5 metres long), Indian, Central Asian, Islamic, Judaic and European textiles as well as lace from the Pat Earnshaw lace collection (lots 398 to 432).
