Important Houston Collections This sale will feature properties from prominent Houston area estates and collections, including the Kirby Mansion and the Bill Stern Collection (bequest to benefit decorative arts acquisitions for the Museum of Fine Art, Houston). Highlights of the sale will include a Pugi Carrara marble sculpture, ?Fortuna?; a bronze scale model of the full-size sculpture of Douglas MacArthur residing at Howard Payne College, Brownwood, Texas; a late 19th century parquetry-inlaid Louis XV style Erard, Paris grand piano. Among the fine art offerings are an American Impressionist work by Emil Carlsen, a Western oil painting by George Phippen, and two Old Master paintings; an 18th Century French School Madonna and a 17th Century Neapolitan School Biblical scene. 20th Century and Mid-Century Modern designers will be well-represented among the furniture and decorative arts offerings, including Alvar Aalto, Charles and Ray Eames, Sol Lewitt, and Isamu Noguchi.
