David Rago Fine Art Auction

Selective buyers of differing tastes should be exceptionally pleased to inspect these sales," says Meredith Hilferty, Director of Fine Art Auctions. "And I say this knowing how much good art will be available this week. For those in search of work from sought-after artists long held in established collections, we are selling desirable works by Alexander Calder, Jasper Johns and Sam Francis, Andrew Wyeth and William Louis Sonntag, Sr. Collectors of fine American sculpture will want to attend to a substantial grouping of bronzes by Adolph Alexander Weinman, Frederick William MacMonnies and Bessie Potter Vonnoh. In the contemporary arena, among the most market-worthy pieces (and there are many) are those by Latin American artists from the collection of Carla and George Stellweg. Carla Stellweg, a curator and art historian, is one of the most informed and discerning collectors with whom I have had the pleasure to work. We have all been energized by the presence of this art in the auction house.
