Rare Book Auction (lots 1-50 only)

We are excited to present the first Rare Book Auction catalogue of 2015. Some highlights of this sale are: A rare and important pamphlet by David Samwell, "A Narrative of the Death of Captain Cook" (1786), 1st edition. A small archive of letters and ephemera by Edward Lear, this includes three hand penned letters all with ink sketches. A rare mezzotint "Mr Banks" after Benjamin West engraved by J.R. Smith (1773). An extensive library of books relating to fishing from well known South Island angler John Craze. The sale also includes a collection of titles by P.G.Wodehouse including a 1st edition of My Man Jeeves (1919) and a number of 1st edition Biggles' books by W.E. Johns. Also of importance are a number of early and historic New Zealand photographs and documents, many relating to Wellington; letters from the Maori Wars; and Central Otago gold mining documents, maps and papers.
